The Avenue Cookery School is now located at
The Mission Hall in Walkers Place, Putney, London SW15 1PP - just off Putney High Street and close to public transport.
Our courses have an excellent reputation amongst Gap Year students,
undergraduates and university leavers. One week to one month courses are
offered as well as day and evening classes.
The relaxed and friendly atmosphere at The Avenue can turn even the most
nervous beginner into a confident 'foodie'. Our simple message is that
cooking is fun and, with a bit of instilled confidence, most things are
possible.
Mary Forde studied at the Cordon Bleu in London for one year before
starting her career in catering. She had worked in many areas of the
industry before discovering her love for teaching. For the past 15 years
she has, amongst other projects, looked after the Cambridge Crew prior
to the Boat Race and has been involved in all aspects of their
nutrition.
Diana Horsford was for 7 years the main teacher at The Grange Cookery
School in Somerset before joining The Avenue 3 years ago. Her love of
food and ability to create great dishes is widely recognised. The
combination of natural talent and lively enthusiastic communication
skills has already proved to be a great success in her teaching career.
Both Diana and Mary have 4 children each and are well in touch with the
needs and interests of young people from Gap Year, through University
and first time flats. They have identified what is 'Really Useful' -
recipes, shopping and tips - and are always at the end of a telephone
when needed!
Charlotte White, who teaches on the Really Useful Course, is qualified
to award Certificates in First Aid. She has extensive knowledge of
travel and personal awareness.
Sally Strahan keeps the show on the road with her expert administrative
abilities! Happy to be contacted on admin questions at
info@theavenuecookeryschool.com.
